I’m passionate about helping you grow and make an impact.

“What we’re proposing is a comprehensive, stakeholder-driven strategic alignment framework that leverages synergistic capabilities across governance layers to optimise operational sustainability.”

Says very little, wastes everyone’s time, and is exactly what Plain Sense isn’t.

For people who don’t have time for consultants who talk in circles.

Most of the organisations I sit with are doing serious work with a small team — a not-for-profit, a business, a council unit. Strategy gets written and then ignored. The org chart lives on a whiteboard. Someone is about to hire because a resignation landed at lunch. And nobody has time for a consultant who needs a glossary.

I started Plain Sense because I got tired of watching good organisations get buried in admin, acronyms, and advice that didn’t make sense.

I’ve spent years in the arts, education leadership, community engagement and public service roles across regional Australia. I’ve chaired meetings, rewritten constitutions, untangled policies, written strategic plans that actually got used — and I’ve worked with the kind of people who keep the local footy club, gallery or family support centre running while juggling a million other things.

I know how hard it is when

  • The strategy is a PDF from three years ago
  • Nobody can name the work, the hours, or what “good” looks like
  • The org chart is whoever you happened to have
  • Someone is writing a job ad tonight because a resignation landed at lunch

What you won’t get

  • Buzzwords
  • A 90-slide PowerPoint
  • A $20k quote for a plan no one reads
  • Policies full of surplus words
  • Corporate talk that makes your team feel stupid

Who I work with

  • Australian not-for-profits
  • Businesses that have grown past “we’ll figure it out”
  • Local government teams who still have to make the week work
  • Anyone sick of being told to “redefine their strategic pillars” when they need a one-page plan and a role that is actually a role

The behind-the-scenes work

  • Strategy and the year-ahead brief
  • Workforce architecture — roles, structure, pay, hiring
  • Coaching people in the job they already have
  • Workplace policies and forms
  • The employment lifecycle, in plain English
  • Or just figuring out where to start
